"Curriculum Standards Workshop" on the project "Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure of Ukraine" was held
On February 15, 2023, the USAID project in cooperation with the NURE "Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity of Ukraine" held a workshop called "Curriculum Standards Workshop". The workshop was organized according to the plan of revision of educational programs working at Ukrainian universities in the field of 125 Cybersecurity. During the workshop, speakers Karen Wetzel of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Randy Pestana and Robert Peacock of Florida International University spoke about the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (NIST SP 800-181r1) which is a powerful resource to help employers develop their cybersecurity capabilities. The workshop discussed components of the NICE Framework, such as categories, special areas, and job roles.
To build a quality educational and professional program 125 Cybersecurity, the NICE Framework is essential because this framework identifies all cybersecurity roles and the proper certifications, knowledge and skills that each role must develop and demonstrate. The NICE Framework provides a blueprint for further professional development and the provision of more focused learning opportunities. Thus, using elements of the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework, not only will the necessary skills and competencies within the respective disciplines be introduced to update the educational and professional program, but the students themselves will have prior knowledge of their professional development, occupational classification, etc.
