FIBRE OPTIC SYSTEMS LABORATORY
The laboratory is located in the room 368б, in responsible charge – Kovalchuk V.K.
The laboratory is equipped with personal computers based on Intel Pentium 5 processors – 4 units with an access to the backbone fragment of the Kyivstar fiber-optic communication line based on the STM-1 synchronous digital hierarchy transport network and modern layouts for studying the parameters of efficiency and quality of both analog and digital fiber-optic transmission systems.
The laboratory of fiber-optic transmission systems provides a laboratory workshop on the discipline “Fiber-optic transmission systems”.
LABORATORY EQUIPMENT INCLUDES:
- fiber-optic transmission system with laser emitter based on the “electronics-3” system»
- KLT-25 linear optical path kit for PCM transmission system-120-4 / 5;
- measuring equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, midrange spectrum analyzer-4);
- optical testers OMK3-3, FOD-2;
- 2 personal computers with developed software;
- optical emitters, optical detectors, optical connectors, optical power distributors, fiber optic cables.
THE FOLLOWING LABORATORY WORKS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AND ARE BEING CARRIED OUT IN THE COURSE OF STUDYING THE DISCIPLINE “FIBER-OPTIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS”:
- research of the characteristics of optical radiation sources;
- research of losses when connecting fiber light guides;
- research of a fiber-optic system with a laser emitter;
- research of a linear optical path kit;
- research of fiber optic communication lines using an OTDR optical reflectometer;
- research of passive elements of FOTS;
- research of the properties of fiber light guides.
New laboratory works are being developed on the study of optical receiving and transmitting devices, on the study of a passive optical access network.
The laboratory is connected to the local network of the department.
FURTHER IMPROVEMENT OF LABORATORY EQUIPMENT IS PLANNED, IN PARTICULAR:
- purchase of optical receivers;
- purchase of optical power meters;
- purchase of passive optical devices (attenuators, insulators, switches).
